Chicha Culture: Music
Chicha Culture
We know that Chicha culture is part of Peruvian history as well as one special characteristic that makes our culture easily recognizable. Even though most people recognize "chicha" as a beverage but in reality is more than that. Iriarte mentions that this wonderful manifestation represents part of a social sector, mainly compound by people from the Andes who appear in the capital to conquer and make their new culture in order to fit in properly.
This Culture has been represented in different aspects such as music, transforming the "huayno" to a new musical aspect; Arguedas used to say that huayno is a print, clear and very detailed which can not be easily put aside. Even nowadays, we know the impact it has in celebrations. We also have a nice reference from Matos Mar, who explains how the chicha music emerged from an unban creation, from those humble people who lived in crowded areas without chances of moving forward.
